Positions Open Include the following:

Firefighter/Paramedic

The City of Leon Valley is recruiting qualified individuals for the position of Fire Fighter / Paramedic.  The City of Leon Valley is putting together a list of qualified applicants to fill upcoming vacancies. Application will remain on file for six months.

The City of  Leon Valley staff an all-hazards response fire department providing Fire, EMS, Rescue and Hazardous Materials services to the community.  Vast training opportunities are provided to help advance your career.  We offer great benefits and supportive leadership.  Come join our team of dedicated professionals. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certified or immediately certifiable as a Structural Fire Fighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
  • Texas Department of State Health Services certified Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic, and
  • Hold a current Texas Driver’s license. 
  • Must obtain Texas Class B-CDL within 1 year of date of hire. 

STARTING SALARY:

  • Estimated $40,265.16/ year
  • Non-Exempt Position
  • Plus Certification pay
  • $4,160/yr. Paramedic Certification
  • $260/yr. for Basic Firefighter Certification
  • $700/yr. uniform allowance
  • 100% Employee Coverage for Health, Dental and Life Insurances
  • Participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) 6% and 2:1 match.

For a fun and rewarding summer job, apply to be a lifeguard at the Forest Oaks Pool or the Leon Valley Community Pool! SELA Aquatics, a professional pool management company, hires and oversees the lifeguards. The minimum age to be a lifeguard is 15 years old, and you must be certified as an American Red Cross lifeguard before the first day of work.
