Chris Riley has served as mayor of the City of Leon Valley since June 2004. Mrs. Riley formerly served as co-chair of the city’s Earthwise Living Committee, of which she was a founding member in 1989. She has served as a board member of several local organizations, including her present positions as a Transportation Policy Board member of the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization, member of the VIA Intergovernmental Committee, member of the Leon Valley Earthwise Living Committee, and chair of the Leon Valley Beautification Committee.

Formerly she served as chair of the MPO Boundary Expansion Committee, vice-chair of the AACOG Air Improvement Resources Executive Committee, president and finance chair of St. Luke’s Catholic School Board, onboard and off-board publicity chair of the League of Women Voters, board member of Clubhouse, a non-profit serving the mentally ill in San Antonio, and board member of Under the Bridge, a non-profit that coordinates the Sunday feeding of homeless persons.

She has also worked with the San Antonio Bar Association Mentoring Program to help mentor students enrolled in the Law and Research magnet program at Fox Tech High School. Mrs. Riley received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. A native of Sacramento, California, she spent time in Guam, Taiwan, and the Philippines as a child in a military family. She has been a resident of Leon Valley since 1978 and is married to native San Antonian Darby Riley, with whom she has three children, Charlie, Martin, and Grace.
