As an effort to support the Leon Valley Tree initiative Council created a Tree Advisory Board.
The Tree Advisory Board (TAB) is a ten (10) member Board and they were joined by forester and certified arborist from the Texas Forest Service. The first two (2) priorities of the Board are the: (1) Leon Valley Tree Challenge an initiative to plant 10,000 trees by the year 2025 and (2) to initiate a Tree Survey which would inventory all trees in the City and identify Heritage trees (trees with trunks which are 24-inches or more in diameter). The Board is also very concerned about oak wilt which is attacking certain areas of the city and have begun an informational campaign.
