Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a community-based program designed to train citizens to be the eyes and ears of the Leon Valley Police Department. Its goal is to reduce crime and increase citizen awareness through education, participation, and cooperation with the police department. This program is one of the oldest crime prevention programs in the nation. It is very effective at bringing active citizens together with their police departments to make their community safer.
Residents are encouraged to consider developing programs in their neighborhood, and to partner with the Leon Valley Police Department in stopping crimes before they happen. Residents are not required to actively patrol the neighborhood; they are simply asked to keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report it to the police. The additional eyes and ears in the community are a force multiplier for the police department and remain an effective tool for combating crime in Leon Valley.
The Leon Valley Police Department is looking for volunteer “Block Captains” in your neighborhood! Block Captains act as the liaison between the neighborhood and the police department, reporting any suspicious activity or criminal activity that they receive from their neighbors. Call (210) 684-1391 ext. 252 to find out further information or email admin.lvpd@leonvalleytexas.gov.
